The Recent Easing of the Red Sea Crisis

It has been over six months since the outbreak of the Red Sea Crisis, when the container transportation has been severely affected. According to the analysis of a Danish company, the total number of port calls per month in the Eastern Mediterranean region was also decreasing before the crisis, and although both regions showed signs of slow recovery, progress was limited. In addition, the Red Sea has been most significantly affected, with Jeddah and King Abdullah ports being the most severely affected in the Red Sea. From the perspective of schedule reliability, the Red Sea and Eastern Mediterranean regions have recovered to pre-crisis levels,
but the Gulf of Aden region has gradually fallen behind. The average delay of ships arriving late in all three regions has improved, and the delay time has dropped to 4-5 days before the crisis after surging to 10-14 days in January 2024.
